ECITB achieves Investors in People Silver Standard

The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) is delighted to announce that following its recent Investors in People (IiP) assessment it has been accredited with the IiP Silver Standard, an accolade awarded to fewer than 600 organisations across the UK

Through this accreditation, the IIP Board has recognised the ECITB’s success, noting its exceptional performance in people management, leadership and development.

Investors in People Silver accreditation acknowledges that the ECITB has been awarded one of the highest levels of accreditation within the Investors in People framework. The IiP standard is made up of four levels and is assessed against 196 indicators. Having met the recognised core standard of 39 indicators, the ECITB has achieved a further 94 indicators, 133 in total. Criteria for the Silver Standard is 76 additional indicators (115 in total). In achieving this, we have progressed from the core standard to the coveted Silver Standard.

The assessment was undertaken against the IiP framework and the following areas were identified as significant strengths;

  • We have a clear vision, strategy and plans
  • There is effective and inclusive decision making
  • A positive culture supports continuous improvements
  • Good performance is recognised and rewarded
  • Development is strategic and talent is well managed
  • Learning takes place effectively
  • Leadership and management is effective
  • Our people processes are measured and continuously improve

The report also said “that the organisation has undergone a transformational change.”

Nigel Spencer, ECITB’s Director of Development and Quality said “Following the last assessment when the basic standard was achieved, the ECITB decided to put in place an enhanced people development strategy, overseen by the People Strategy Working Group. Made up of representatives from across the business at all levels of seniority, this group improved the engagement with staff, which ultimately led to some significant changes and improvements and the achievement of the Silver Standard.”

The ECITB is justifiably proud of this achievement, and we are committed not only to maintaining the Silver Standard, but to exceeding it in the future. The step up to silver accreditation reflects all of the hard work and dedication from staff over the last three years, embracing change and driving the organisation forward whilst also ensuring ECITB is a great place to work.

On achieving this prestigious Standard, Chris Claydon, Chief Executive of the ECITB said, “We are delighted to have been awarded the Investors in People Silver Standard. Achieving this recognition was a team effort and demonstrates the hard work and dedication of all staff within the organisation. We won’t stop here – we now start our preparations to achieve Gold!”
